LeBron James es consciente de que no será recordado por los MVP que consiga (lleva cuatro en temporada regular en sus 13 años de carrera). Lo que realmente marcará la comparación del jugador nacido en Akron con los grandes de la historia será el número de títulos que consiga.

Con el 2-0 en contra hasta el momento con los Warriors, está en riesgo de cosechar su quinta derrota en siete finales disputadas.

Si no pone remedio y LeBron cae en su terceras Finales consecutivas de las seis que lleva de manera seguida, se pondrá muy cerca de históricos NBA que no tuvieron suerte en la lucha por el anillo. El caso más conocido, el de Jerry West, que perdió ocho de las nueve citas por el título en las que participó.

Pero hay bastantes más. Hasta 12 ex jugadores pueden compararse en este apartado con James, y es que varios han caído en cuatro Finales, según publica Hoopshype. Son los siguientes:

Larry Foust. Jugó en la NBA durante 12 temporadas tras ser número 6 del Draft de 1950. Su balance fue de 0 victorias y 5 derrotas en Finales.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. El legendario pívot tiene marca positiva en las Finales, pero también cayó en algunas: 6 victorias y 4 derrotas.

Keith Erikson. También cayó en cuatro Finales con los Lakers, durante la década de los sesenta y los setenta, aunque también fue jugador profesional de voleibol y jugó los Juegos Olímpicos de 1964 con Estados Unidos. Ganó una vez la NBA (1972).

Magic Johnson. El legendario base de los Lakers es otro de los pocos que puede presumir de terminar su carrera con más triunfos que derrotas en Finales, a pesar de perder cuatro. En 5 ocasiones se llevó el título de la NBA.
